A local family business moved into a larger space to prepare for future growth.
A local family-owned medical supply store recently moved into a new space to accommodate more growth.
Family Medical Supply Store moved from its previous location in Vestavia Hills’ Dolly Creek Station shopping center to a new space at 3205 Lorna Road, Suite 102, in Hoover. The new 2,100-square-foot space was opened to customers on Oct. 1.
The store, which has been operational for five years, carries retail medical supplies and equipment like wheelchairs, antivirus masks, CPAP machines and wound care supplies.
Cecilia Blackmon, one of the owners of Family Medical Supply, said now was the time to move into the space because they had grown out of their own location and the lease on the former space ended.
“We had actually outgrown that location within the first year and a half, so we just decided we wanted a bigger location,” she said. “We love it over here; we still have our regulars, but the traffic out front is a lot more than what it was on Acton Road.”
Blackmon said the hustle and bustle of the area around it and local ownership of the space were two of the main reasons they chose this location.
“Because of the location, it was still a pretty good traffic flow,” she said. “One of the things that we loved about it was that it’s not a huge business-owned building, it was more of a family-owned business like we are.”
The new location is open to customers Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
